A decade after launch of Steelcase’s Office Work Tools, the storage and organization concept was as viable as ever but the line was tired and needed a lift. Surface Work transitioned the products from opaque to translucent material and added new colors to brighten OWT and connect the line more effectively to other Steelcase accent palettes. The transformation was so complete that Steelcase got all the buzz of a new product out of a fully-amortized one, resetting the product’s lifespan without capital investment.
